Tributes Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public individuals shared different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive statements that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors recently. Talking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser should have intervened when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
