The former Liverpool manager states rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to the podcast host: “I said I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on what circumstances must arise to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; No need for media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a road accident with his brother in July.

“Can you substitute such an individual? This isn't just regarding the player himself, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it as an excuse but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Handling this individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
