The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG
The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG set within the series' post-pandemic setting. The project was revealed, with a funding drive planned to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This endeavor will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," reads an official release.
Launch products will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the nation into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the players come in.
Development on the RPG has been underway for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in North America. Production is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
An early look at the game's rules confirms it employs 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical approach. Players use abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness
Battles prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This system is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Thematic Health Mechanic
The way health is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At zero health, an operative is downed, but is not knocked out.
- They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
- Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
