The area has been described as an "environmental crisis".
Correspondent surveyed the scene and reported the mound appeared to be "six meters tall at least".

Illegal dumpers have discarded a mountain of garbage in a rural area in Oxfordshire.

The "ecological disaster occurring in public view" is around 150m (490ft) long and 6m (20ft) high.

The massive mound has appeared in a field next to the River Cherwell in the vicinity of Kidlington.

A local MP brought up the problem in parliament, declaring it was "risking an environmental disaster".

Protection organization stated the illegal rubbish dump was formed about a recently by an illegal operation.

"This constitutes an ecological disaster taking place in full view.

"Every day that elapses increases the threat of toxic drainage getting into the river system, polluting animals and putting at risk the wellbeing of the complete river basin.

"Regulatory bodies must respond promptly, not in months or years, which is their usual action timeframe."

Access ban had been put in place by the Environment Agency.

It is hard to recognize any individual items of garbage as it seems to have been broken up with earth combined.

Part of the waste from the uppermost part of the mound has toppled and is now just five feet from the waterway.

The River Cherwell is a tributary of the River Thames, which signifies it travels through Oxford before connecting with the Thames.

The MP mentioned the price of disposing of the waste would be substantial

The MP petitioned the government for help to remove the illegal site before it triggered a blaze or was swept into the water network.

Addressing elected representatives on this week, he stated: "Lawbreakers have dumped a huge quantity of unauthorized plastic waste... totaling substantial weight, in my constituency on a riverside area alongside the River Cherwell.

"River levels are growing and heatmaps show that the waste is also increasing in temperature, raising the threat of blaze.

"Environmental authorities reported it has restricted funding for compliance, that the anticipated cost of clearance is higher than the entire annual budget of the local district council."

Environment minister said the administration had inherited a failing waste industry that had created an "growing issue of unauthorized fly-tipping".

She told MPs the agency had issued a access ban to stop more entry to the area.

In a announcement, the organization said it was looking into the situation and requested for evidence.

It commented: "We acknowledge the citizens' frustration about occurrences like this, which is why we take action against those accountable for environmental offenses."

A newly released report discovered initiatives to combat major environmental offenses have been "severely neglected" notwithstanding the problem becoming more extensive and more complex.

The Environment and Climate Change Committee recommended an autonomous "root and branch" inquiry into how "prevalent" illegal dumping is dealt with.
