Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two creators whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the essence of people through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
