Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
