Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
