American-Palestinian Adolescent Freed After Nine Months in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian adolescent having endured 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.

According to them, he appears showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.

In a statement, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed urgent medical care he requires following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

American authorities stated they would maintain to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities has no higher priority to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," it added.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to US authorities and the White House, demanding more be done to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed since February, learning information solely about his son's condition via legal paperwork.

He stayed without charge within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

The facility also contains grown detainees, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities including killings.

An estimated 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, including UN bodies, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The dual national youth who the Palestinian health ministry said died from beating by settlement residents following tensions last July.

During that period, defense forces stated officials were investigating information regarding a civilian had died.

Both young men had worked together within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We anticipate the American government to ensure our family's safety," Mr Kadur said.
