A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
